Traveller's Tree
BBC Radio 4
Presented by Katie Derham, Traveller's Tree is Radio 4’s practical travel show, on at the new time of 4.30pm on a Monday. TT is all about genuinely inspiring ideas, reliable information, latest trends and thoughtful pieces on holidays and the business of travel.
In Africa and South America, it is common to find travellers’ trees, usually gnarled old specimens, where messages are pinned advising passers-by of a good place to stay or eat. We bring the concept to this programme, with a high-energy, deliberately upbeat forum that’s packed with excellent suggestions from both experts and audience plus trips tried and tested by reporters and by the listeners themselves. Our ambition is that the programmes are useful in the same way as advice from a trusted or well travelled friend – helping us choose what’s good, what fun and what’s not…on holiday.
The series is co-produced by Just Radio and Whistledown (Susan Marling, David Prest) who, between them, have an unrivalled knowledge of the travel business and a track record in making, presenting and producing travel and leisure programmes.
