Alvin Hall’s Other America
BBC World Service
As America prepares for a historic presidential election, Alvin Hall returns to the world he grew up in, to speak to friends and family and share a haunting portrait of a disappearing, black, rural way of life.
This is Wakulla County, a part of America you very rarely see on the news, a place with something profound to tell us about America’s past and its future.
Deeply rural, a place of unspoilt wilderness and incredible natural beauty. But it has also been a place with a violent history of racial segregation and oppression.
