US music critic and broadcaster Ann Powers presents a tribute to PRINCE, framed around the night she spent with the star.

This was a night for hanging out in celebrity-infested Beverly Park in the star’s mansion (which had ‘the European opulence of an upscale spa’), for meeting his protege and girlfriend  Bria Valente, for watching many costume changes, for listening to tracks in his studio and then hitting a club (more tracks in the limousine, cruising Beverley Hills) …..

Along the way Ann nails the wildly virtuosic star whose 30 albums sold 100 million copies, a man who constantly re-invented, who was his own brand, bending notions of sex, fashion, gender roles and the limits of pop.
