Behind The Scenes – Max Richter

BBC Radio 4

He’s the Spotify generation’s favourite contemporary classical composer – more popular than Brian Eno and Philip Glass combined, so what does Max Richter get up to in lockdown?

Reaching Richter in his tiny cottage recording studio, presenter Matthew Sweet talks to the composer and his partner, the artist Yulia Mahr about life in lockdown, soundtracks for films which don’t exist and Max’s greatest hits, including Sleep (Richter’s concert for an unconscious audience) and music for the ballet Woolfe Works. Featuring writer and BBC Radio 3 broadcaster Jennifer Lucy Allan.

Produced by Michael Umney
