Egypt’s Grand Museum
BBC World Service
After nearly two decades of planning, the new Grand Egyptian Museum is finally slated to open in 2020.
It’s by all accounts a magnificent building, and will house the first exhibition ever to display the full tomb collection of King Tutankhamen, but what do ordinary Egyptians think of the project? Jonathan Glancey and Shahira Ahmed head to Giza, where the museum stands in the shadow of the pyramids, to explore this new wonder, and ask what it can really do for Egypt.
